Starting from American sanctions on Chinese industry in recent years, Tao Wu analyzed the importance of related industries in the computer field and the current situation of the Chinese computer industry. He explained the guidelines for computer science research from three aspects: the way of research, the virtue of research, and the person of research.

Wu encouraged students to constantly pursue breakthroughs in technology, break through the technological blockade and technological restrictions, and commercialize the technology, popularize and apply it. Only through continuous innovation and technological breakthroughs can we gain a firm foothold in the market. He also asked the students to adhere to a crucial quality -- academic integrity. He hopes that students can always adhere to a sincere heart in the face of science, "to admit that you know what you know, and admit what you don't know", and not copy others' research results and refuse academic fraud.

Starting from the reality of scientific research, Dean Feng outlined the future scientific research for the students from three aspects: research objectives, School introduction, and research direction.
Dean Feng proposed the goal of transforming the "bottleneck list" into the research task list. According to the analysis of 35 key technologies in Science and Technology Daily, Feng pointed out the deficiencies in the computer field in the present stage and called on the graduate students to have ideals and beliefs, inherit excellent culture, and have the innovative ability to meet the needs of the country and social and economic development.
Afterward, Dean Feng briefly introduced the college from various angles. Since the establishment of the computer-related major in 1973, the School has made outstanding achievements in scientific research and personnel training. In terms of hard conditions, the School has several key laboratories, in addition to many enterprise joint laboratories. In terms of soft conditions, the School has corresponding innovation teams in various fields and has won the National Science and Technology Achievement Award many times.
Then, Dean Feng summarized and analyzed the general trend of current computer technology development from seven research directions, such as information security, parallel computing, and big data management. Combining with the actual situation, she pointed out the hot research spots such as artificial intelligence, big data, software, computing system, and perception, and gave us her research suggestions.

Ruixuan Li showed the students the rules and art of postgraduate life around the concept of "unity of knowledge and action". Song Wu, on behalf of the supervisors, listed specific examples around the keyword "integrity" to explain academic misconduct such as plagiarism, fraud, splicing, and other academic misconduct, and classified various kinds of academic misconduct. Then, through the analysis of the relevant data SCI retraction, he listed some punishment schemes for academic misconduct to remind students that academic integrity is an inviolable bottom line.
