On March 7, 2025, Professor Craig Anderson, a world-renowned clinical neuroscientist from the University of New South Wales (UNSW), visited Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) at the university's invitation. He was officially appointed as an expert on the Discipline Construction Advisory Committee of HUST's School of Computer Science and Technology during his visit. His visit is expected to enhance international academic exchanges in medical engineering and promote high-quality development in discipline construction.
Professor Craig Anderson, Vice President of the World Stroke Organization and a fellow of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences, is an internationally recognized expert in stroke etiology, treatment, management, and cardiovascular disease research. His work spans clinical medicine and public health and involves multinational and interdisciplinary collaboration. His research contributions have significantly improved healthcare conditions in low- and middle-income countries, earning him acclaim as a "leader in stroke research" from the prestigious medical journal The Lancet.

During his visit, Professor Craig Anderson was warmly welcomed by Deputy Director Jiang Jing and Associate Dean Shi Xuanhua. Both sides reflected on the collaborative history between HUST and UNSW, expressing hope that this visit would deepen cooperation. Professor Anderson shared his academic experiences in medical engineering research and highlighted his research collaborations in China and globally. He has maintained close ties with several top Chinese universities and highly appreciates China’s favorable research environment for medical studies, which he believes supports more systematic scientific research advancement.

Associate Dean Shi Xuanhua introduced the school's discipline construction status, emphasizing research achievements in medical engineering. The school has established a Big Data Medical Health Research Center and collaborates closely with United Imaging Healthcare, a leading medical engineering company. It also partners with top Chinese medical institutions like Tongji Hospital and Xiehe Hospital to advance medical engineering research.

Finally, Associate Dean Shi Xuanhua presented Professor Craig Anderson with the appointment certificate as an expert on the International Advisory Committee for Computer Science Discipline Construction on behalf of the School of Computer Science and Technology. The meeting concluded successfully in a cordial atmosphere. Both parties plan to collaborate further during the Global Medical Engineering Innovation Conference at HUST in November and in related fields, using technological innovation to enhance human well-being.
