1.1 Guide for Undergraduate International Student Admission
The School of Computer Science and Technology, Huazhong University of Science & Technology (HUST), is located on the main campus near the East Lake scenic spot of Wuhan, Hubei province. The main campus of HUST has a high percentage of greenery coverage and beautiful scenery, which has earned the honorary title "University in the Forest". Through forty years of unremitting efforts, the School of Computer Science and Technology has become an important personnel training and scientific research base in China's computer science and technology field. We have been actively exploring the reform of undergraduate education, the innovation of graduate education, the development of frontier research, the promotion of the national economy, etc.
The Computer Science and Technology school has six research institutes, an engineering research center, 11 national or provincial scientific research bases, and two high-tech enterprises. The school hosts around 150 full-time faculty members, more than 39 professors, 65 associate professors, and 48 lecturers. Many eminent scientists and professors are gathering here, including 2 professors of the Cheung Kong Scholar Program, 1 youth professor of the Cheung Kong Scholar Program, 2 winners of The National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, 2 selected in Millions of Leading Engineering Talents, 3 winners of Research Fund for Distinguished Young Scientists, 2 Top Young Innovative Talents of the Organization Department of CPC Central Committee and 7 winners of Program for New Century Excellent Talents in University.
The School of Computer Science and Technology has 3 Undergraduate Programs, 2 first-level discipline doctoral/master programs in computer science and technology, cyberspace security, and 1 first-level discipline post-doctoral program in computer science and technology. Currently, there are over 1727 undergraduate students and 822 graduate candidates.
It is over 40 years since the School of Computer Science and Technology was established. Until now, it has trained more than ten thousand undergraduates and five thousand graduates. These well-rounded students are readily welcomed into the professional environment. Besides, through undertaking and completing a large number of commissioned research projects from national and local institutes as well as enterprises, it achieved a high level of research and formed its own academic specialties.
Eligibility and Requirements
Graduating high school students or obtained a senior high school diploma, physically and mentally healthy foreigners.
According to the regulations released by Ministry of Education,
China, if parent(s) was (were) a Chinese citizen settling in a foreign country at the time applicants were born, applicants must have obtained their current foreign citizenship before April 30, 2021. In addition, the applicant must have lived outside China for at least 2 years during the period between April 30, 2021 and April 30, 2025 (The actual residence in a foreign country for 9 months in a year can be counted as one year, subject to the entry and exit signatures). This requirement shall also be met by those who apply for undergraduate study as international students after immigrating from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan and obtaining foreign nationality.

Documents for Application
Part 1. Academic Documents
1. High school graduation certificate or proof of impending graduation (for applicants in their final year of high school study).
2. High school transcripts.
3. Personal Statement: Introduce yourself in detail, explain your understanding of China, the reasons and your expectations for studying at HUST.
4. Personal Introduction Video: Please record and submit a video in English or Chinese within 60 seconds.
5. Language Proficiency:
Chinese Medium:
HSK4 with scores 180 or above for programs of Science, Engineering and Medicine;
HSK5 with scores 180 or above for programs of Economics, Management, Literature, Education, Philosophy, Arts and Law, and the School of Artificial Intelligence;
Or the previous degree education was instructed in Chinese or mother tongue is Chinese, HSK scores can be exempted after verification.
English Medium:
TOEFL 80 or above;
IELTS 5.5 or above;
Or other certificates of the same proficiency level which are accepted by HUST;
Or the previous degree education was instructed in English or mother tongue is English, the English proficiency certificate can be exempted after confirmation.
Other supporting materials that can prove learning ability and comprehensive quality, such as award certificates, scientific and technological achievements, publications, participation in activities, etc.
Five or more pieces of personal art works are required to apply for architecture and design related majors.
Part 2. Non-Academic Documents
1. Photocopy of valid ordinary passport (expiry date should be after October 15, 2026).
2. Applicants currently residing in China must provide a copy of the page containing a valid visa or residence permit.
3. Applicants in category 2 in the Eligibility and Requirements Section must provide:
(1) copies of all passports he/she used to have.
(2) all copies of visa or residence permit relevant to stay in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao or Taiwan.
4. Physical Examination Form (Please click to download).
5. Certificate of Non-criminal Record.
6. Financial Certification/Bank Statement (5,000 USD or above).
7. Applicants who are under the age of 18 by September 1, 2025 should submit the Guardian Authorization Letter and guarantee letter by legal guardian in China.
The above materials shall be provided in Chinese or English. For other languages, please provide official notarized translations.
Application and Admission Procedures
Application Period:
October 20, 2024 to June 15, 2025.
Step 1.
Log in to the Online Application System at http://admission.hust.edu.cn/.
Step 2.
Choose the program, upload the Academic Documents, complete and submit your application.
Step 3.
Finish the online test.
Step 4.
Finish the payment of the application fee in due time.
Step 5.
Participate in the International Student Entrance Exam, the Entrance Exam dates are February 28th, March 28th, April 25th, May 23rd, and June 30th, in 2025.
(The specific exam instructions will be announced one week prior to each exam)

Step 6.
After receiving the qualified results of the entrance exam, upload Non-Academic Documents, complete and submit it.
Step 7.
Waiting for the school’s interview notification and final admission results.
Only some schools have interview requirements, please refer to the attachment - Undergraduate Programs Offered in 2025 for Admission in HUST;

The documents uploaded should be clear, complete, true, and valid. Incomplete or false applications will be rejected.
All applicants should apply online through the system;
Please check the online application system and email frequently. Applicants can log in to the system to check the admission results after March, 2025. The admission notice and the JW 202 form are expected to be sent in June, 2025.

Eligibility and Requirements
Education background
Outstanding academic performance and potential;
Applicants for Master’s programs should have been conferred a Bachelor’s Degree, be under the age of 35;
Applicants for Doctoral programs should have been conferred a Master’s Degree, be under the age of 40;
Both should be equivalent to those of the Chinese related degrees.
Language Proficiency
Chinese Medium:
HSK 4 with scores 180 or above for programs of Science, Engineering and Medicine;
HSK5 with scores 180 or above for programs of Economics, Management, Literature, and Law and Education;
HSK 5 with scores of 200 or above for programs offered in Tongji Hospital and Union Hospital;
Or the previous degree was taught in Chinese.
English Medium:
TOEFL 80 or above;
GRE General 310 or above;
IELTS 6.0 or above;
other certificates of the same level are also acceptable;
Applicants whose prior teaching language is Chinese/English are not required to provide proof of language proficiency.
Grade Point Average
3/4, 3.75/5, or 75%.
GPA systems or the other equivalent systems are both accepted.
Note:
The above-mentioned requirements are the basic standard for all graduate applicants for HUST, not equal to the admission criteria decided by the individual school/department.
Current students can submit an enrollment certificate as the qualification certificate. Furthermore, the required degree certificate should be submitted upon registration.

Academic Certificate
An official certificate of your highest education or the official document of enrollment issued by the current school.
Academic documents issued in the third language should be notarized in Chinese or English editions.
Transcripts
Personal Statement
Introduce yourself in details, explain your understanding of China, and list the reasons and your expectations for studying at HUST.
Personal Introduction Video
Please record and submit a video in English or Chinese within 60 seconds.
CV
Including educational background, work experience, and a publication list if available.
Study Plan/Research Proposal
More than 1,000 characters or words, in Chinese or English;
Structure: Title, Abstract, Introduction, Literature Review, Methodology, Significance of Research, Reference;
Details: Introductory background, Research questions, Aims/Objectives, Expected Results, etc.
Future academic/career objectives (Preferred)
Writing sample
A written work submitted for either a grade or publication.
The paper closely related to the field of study you wish to pursue in the division would be preferred.
Language Proficiency Certificate
2 Recommendation Letters
Signed by your former professors/associate professors.
Acceptance Letter issued by the prospective supervisor of HUST (Required by some schools as indicated in the Program List).
Part 2. Non-Academic Documents
Passport
Physical Examination Form: Please click to download.
Those who are studying or working in China could upload the Health Certificate or Residence Permit instead.
Certificate of Non-criminal Record
A certificate issued by the police station or law enforcement agency certifying that you have no previous criminal record.
Financial Certification/Bank Statement: 5,000 USD or above.
Not required for the applicants for scholarship programs.
Application and Admission Procedures
Step 1.
Log in to the online application system at http://admission.hust.edu.cn/.
Step 2.
Choose a program, upload the Academic Documents, and complete and submit your application.
Step 3.
Take the online language test in the form of objective questions.
Step4.
Finish the payment of the application fee after passing the online test.
Step5.
The application will be forwarded to the school/department concerned for academic review.
Applicants that pass the evaluation will receive the Pre-admission Letter.
Step6.
Upload the Non-Academic Documents and wait for the admission result..
Step 7.
The university will issue the Admission Notice and Confirmation Form for Study in China to the students admitted.
Note:
The Pre-Admission Letter is a document issued by HUST to indicate that you are nominated for acceptance to study at HUST. The final decision for admission will be determined by HUST International Admission Committee.
The documents uploaded should be clear, complete, true, and valid. Incomplete or false applications will be rejected.
All applications should be submitted through the Online Application System. Please do not mail any hard copy or send application via email.
Admission result will be notified through official email then.

应届高中毕业或已取得高中毕业文凭,身心健康的非中国籍公民;
根据中国中华人民共和国教育部教外函〔2020〕12号文的规定:
依据《中华人民共和国国籍法》第五条,父母双方或一方为中国公民并定居在外国,本人出生时即具有外国国籍的,不具有中国国籍。其申请作为国际学生进入我校本专科阶段学习,除符合学校的其它报名资格外,还应持有有效的外国护照或国籍证明文件4年(含)以上,且从2021年4月30日起至2025年4月30日止在外国实际居住2年以上的记录(一年中实际在外国居住满9个月可按一年计算,以入境和出境签章为准)。从中国大陆(内地)、香港、澳门和台湾地区移民并获得外国国籍后申请作为国际学生进入我校本科阶段学习的,也应满足此项要求。

中文:
理学、工学、医学专业HSK 4级成绩180分及以上;
经济类、管理类、文学类HSK 5级成绩180分及以上;
先前学历教育为汉语授课或母语为汉语者,经审核可免HSK成绩。
英文:
托福80分及以上;
雅思5.5分及以上;
华中科技大学认可的其他同等学力证书;
如果以前的学位教育是以英语授课或母语为英语,经确认后可免英语水平证书。
其他能证明学习能力和综合素质的证明材料,如获奖证书、科技成果、发表的论文、参加活动情况等。
第二部分:非学术文件
普通护照扫描件(最新有效护照,有效期至2026年10月15日或以后);

参加国际学生入学测试,入学考试日期为 2025 年 2 月 28 日、3 月 28 日、4 月 25 日、5 月 23 日和 6 月 30 日。(具体考试须知会在每次考前一周通知)

申请资格及要求
教育背景
申请人需学习成绩优秀,且具备学术潜力。
申请攻读硕士学位者,应当具有学士学位或同等学力,年龄不超过35周岁;
申请攻读博士学位者,应当具有硕士学位或同等学力,年龄不超过40周岁。
语言能力
中文:
理工医学类:汉语水平考试HSK4级180分或以上;
经管人文类:汉语水平考试HSK5级180分或以上;
同济医院,协和医院:汉语水平考试HSK5级200分或以上;
英文:
需具备良好的英语听说读写能力。
达到托福80分,GRE310分,雅思6.0 及以上分数者;
或已获得了被华中科技大学认可的其他相关语言成绩证明。
申请人前置教育授课语言为汉语/英语的,无需提供语言证明。
平均绩点:4分制达到3分以上;5分制达到3.75分以上;100分制达到75分以上。
在不同的国家,GPA制度或其他同等制度都被华中科技大学所接受。
附注:
以上是对我校国际研究生项目申请人的基本要求,并不等同于由各个院系自行决定的录取标准。
目前在校就读的学生可以提交在学证明作为学历证明。如果被正式录取,应在到校注册时携带学位证书原件。

经公证的最高学历证明。如申请人为在校学生,须提交本人就读学校出具的预计毕业证明或在学证明;
学习成绩单;
个人陈述:简要介绍对中国的认知,来华学习动机和进入华中科技大学的学习规划等;

个人简历包括教育背景、工作经历及发表的论文列表(如有);
研究计划:字数1000 字以上,用中文或者英文书写。
结构:标题、摘要、引言、文献综述、方法论、研究意义、参考文献。具体可包括:介绍背景、研究问题、目的/目标、预期结果,未来的学术/职业目标等;
写作样本:可提交学期论文或已发表的论文等。内容与申请学科或研究方向紧密相关则将被优先审阅;
语言水平证明;
2封推荐信:由2名教授或副教授出具的推荐信,用中文或英文书写;
华中科技大学导师接收信(部分院系要求申请人务必提交此接收信,详见招生专业目录)。
第二部分:非学术文件
护照:请提交普通护照首页的清晰扫描件。
外国人体格检查表:请点击下载。
无犯罪记录证明:申请人须提交由所在地公安机关出具的有效期内的无犯罪记录证明。
资金证明:5000美元及以上。奖学金项目申请人无需提交。

第一步
登录华中科技大学国际学生招生与管理服务系统

第二步
选择申请类别和专业,上传学术类申请材料,确认无误后提交申请。
第三步
完成在线语言测试。
第四步
通过测试后,缴纳申请费。
第五步
学校将对申请材料进行学术审核。通过审核的申请人将收到预录取通知书。
第六步
上传非学术类申请材料,提交申请并等待录取结果。
第七步
学校将向确认录取的学生发出《录取通知书》及《外国留学人员来华确认表》。
附注:
预录取通知书是我校为通过学术审核的申请人发出的文件,不等同于正式的录取通知书。最终的录取结果需由我校国际招生委员会确定。
上传的文件应清晰、完整、真实、有效;
所有申请人需通过国际学生在线申请与服务系统提交在线申请,请勿邮寄任何纸质版申请材料或通过电子邮件发送申请;
录取结果将通过正式邮件通知,届时请关注邮件。
申请费
在提交在线申请后,申请人需缴纳申请费600元人民币或100美元,可通过中国银联,支付宝,微信支付,国际银行卡(VISA/Master)进行线上支付。
