On January 14, 2023, the Department of Science and Technology of Hubei Province announced the projects to be given the "2022 Hubei Provincial Science and Technology Award". The project "Key Technologies and Applications of Cross-Scenario Big Data Analysis" led by Professor Ruixuan Li, a faculty of the School of Computer Science & Technology, Huazhong University of Science and Technology (SCST, HUST), wins the championship.
Led by Professor Ruixuan Li, this project isfinished with the joint efforts of Yuhua Li, Yongfeng Huang (Tsinghua University), Haozhao Wang, Pan Zhou, Xiaoting Ji (FiberHome Telecommunication Technologies Co., Ltd.), Yongwei Wu (Baidu), Hongping Li (China Telecom), Shugang Sun (Chinasoft International), Yixiong Zou, Gang Chen (FiberHome), Hong Zhu, Xianfeng Li (DaMeng Database), Yining Qi (Tsinghua University), and Yang Yu (Hubei ChuTianYun Co., Ltd.). As the first to create a batch-stream fusion big data integrated computing framework, the project has invented a lightweight and controllable cross-scenario big data analysis privacy protection method, invented heterogeneous knowledge-enhanced cross-scenario data analysis technology, and developed a cross-scenario big data analysis system. The team has won 76 invention patents plus 148 computer software copyrights, helped formulate five national standards and 12 industry standards, published 226 high-level papers, and developed more than 100 software products in three categories. Twelve companies including Baidu, China Telecom, Chinasoft International, and FiberHome have realized industrial applications of the advances, providing their services to the whole country. These applications have taken China's largest market share in the fields of public security and search, boasting high recognition from many users, such as the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Public Security, and the CPC Hubei Provincial Committee. In the past three years, it has created economic growth of CNY 7.064 billion (about USD 10.28 billion) and profits of CNY 1.092 billion (about USD 1.59 billion). These advances have driven a leapfrog development of China's big data analysis technology.
The Hubei Provincial Science and Technology Award was established by the Hubei Provincial People's Government, aiming at rewarding citizens and organizations with outstanding contributions to scientific and technological advances. It includes Natural Science Awards, Technological Invention Awards, Scientific and Technological Progress Awards, Prize for Promoting Scientific and Technological Achievements, as well as Prize for Small and Medium Enterprises with Scientific and Technological Innovations. The Scientific and Technological Progress Awards are for citizens and organizations who have completed major innovations in science and technology or yielded important achievements amid major scientific and technological projects, plans, or projects, and have created significant economic and social returns after application. In 2022, 352 projects stood out in the preliminary contest for the Scientific and Technological Progress Awards. One project won the Outstanding Award and 32 won the First Prize in the end.
