HUST Students Awarded Huawei Software Elite Challenge 2024 Global Third Place. Congratulations!

The global finals and award ceremony of the 10th Huawei Software Elite Challenge - "Planck Project" concluded on 28th April 2024, marking a successful end to the event. Over a span of two months, more than 30,000 participants and 5,700 teams from 800 universities worldwide engaged in this intense competition. Among them, the School of Computer Science and Technology at HUST stood out, with eight students from three teams successfully advancing to the global finals held at Huawei's Songshan Lake Base.


Finally, the team TES-Joker, comprising Master students Tao Wu and Xinyi Zhou from the School of Computer Science and Master student Yixiang Sun from the School of Optical and Electronic Information, secured an impressive third place in the global final. Heartfelt congratulations to them on their remarkable achievement!


   


   


Tao Wu and Xinyi Zhou are members of Professor Tao Guan's team from the Digital Media Laboratory, School of Computer Science and Technology, HUST. Their participation in the competition left a lasting impression on them. Reflecting on the experience, Tao Wu shared, "We had the opportunity to visit Huawei's research and development base in Dongguan, where we not only made new friends but also engaged in collaborative discussions about ideas and strategies for the final competition. Overall, the entire competition proved to be an extremely rewarding journey for me." Throughout the two-month duration of the Huawei Software Elite Challenge 2024, the team members worked diligently, surmounting challenges and reveling in the exchange of ideas and the satisfaction of coding while problem-solving. Their remarkable efforts led to outstanding achievements, securing the fourth position in the preliminary round of the Wuchang Competition, first place in the semifinals, and ultimately attaining an impressive third place globally in the finals.


   


    


The Huawei Software Elite Challenge stands as a grand-scale software programming competition organized by Huawei for university students worldwide. With the theme of the "Planck Project," the competition aims to find individuals who, like Planck, never cease to question, persevere in seeking truth in complex problems, take practical actions in real scenarios, and use technology to drive progress in the world. Since its inception in 2015, the competition has attracted participation from over 1,000 universities and nearly 230,000 college students worldwide, with over 2,000 software elites joining Huawei through the competition.
